AIMS: A Prototype Visible and Near-IR Imaging Spectrometer for Mars Surface ScienceA compact acousto-optic imaging spectrometer (AIMS) is being developed as a prototype instrument for a Mars lander, tunable from 0.5 to 2.3 microns. We describe the design of AIMS and its spectral imaging capabilities.
