Venus Probe ArchitectureThe Deep Atmosphere Venus Investigation of Noble gases, Chemistry, and Imaging (DAVINCI) Descent Sphere (DS) is a probe designed to take measurements of the Venus atmosphere and take high resolution images of the Venus surface during a ~1 hour descent through the Venus atmosphere. This paper will discuss the design decisions made to ensure autonomous collection of scientific data in the midst of one of the harshest planetary environments in the solar system.
