Aerodynamic Database Development for Vulcan Engine Recovery Aeroshell (VERA)NASA’s Hypersonic Inflatable Aerodynamic Decelerator (HIAD) technology has been selected to support its commercial partners in recovering engines used for launch applications. The deployable nature of HIAD technology allows it to overcome the size constraints imposed by current rigid aeroshells. This capability enhances entry system performance by enabling the delivery of higher payload mass and volume, supporting planetary missions.
