STAMPS: Ad-Hoc Sensors for Dynamic Anomaly Response in SpaceHuman exploration of the Moon will require novel sensing technologies for state awareness, anomaly detection, and fault isolation of lunar habitats. This article presents the development of the System for Telemetry Amalgamation of Multimodal PrognosticS (STAMPS), a modular wireless sensor node prototype for real-time human-in-the-loop investigation of intermittent faults in lunar habitats. STAMPS are the data acquisition part of the Dynamic Anomaly Response and Integrated Analysis (DARIA) project and are enabled by peer-to-peer communication protocols. STAMPS are composed of Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) components and leverage the ESP-NOW protocol for lightweight, low-latency wireless, interoperable time series data between multiple senders and a centralized user interface (UI) receiver. This architecture gives crew increased state awareness that adds information to rigid sensor networks for robust and system-wide safety. This article presents the mechanical design, fabrication, software architecture, and concept of operations (ConOps) of an environmental STAMPS. STAMPS could be an enabling technology that could integrate distributed sensing, fault diagnostics, automated data display, and internet-less communication to enhance crew autonomy for future lunar missions.
